A native of Liberia, Dr. Cooper’s prior public and non-profit sector positions include: Director, Children’s Mental Health Division State of Minnesota, Director, New York State Coalition for School-Based Primary Care and Coordinator, AIDS and Family Life Education, Christian Health Association of Liberia. A former Director-at-Large of the American Orthopsychiatry Association (Ortho) and past Secretary to the board of the American College of Mental Health Administration (ACMHA), she was recently appointed by Governor Paterson to the New York State Mental Health Services Council. She is a member of the New York State Coalition for School-Based Primary Care.   Dr. Cooper is a member of the Multicultural Advisory Committee of the New York State Office of Mental Health.  She is committed to applying a life course perspective to mental capital and social well-being that takes a developmental approach and incorporates the needs of all.
