The Family Foundation & Someone Very Near To Me

My name is Jenn, I am writing about a 17 yr old boy who came into my life about a year ago through my own 16 yr old son.

His name is Matt, he was a good friend of my son's and suddenly found himself homeless and had no where to go.  I was a single Mom with 2 of my own kids, but could not turn this child away.  Everyone needs someone to reach out and just be there, and if he was a friend of my son's and my son was vouching for him then this would be a good thing.

I told him he either had to go to school full time or work part time.  He did, I spoke to his parents and ensured he kept a relationship open with BOTH his mother and father and he visited with them at least once a week the 8 months he lived with me.

Matt was indeed a troubled 17 yr old but not so far gone that he couldn't be helped with love compassion and understanding.  He had that in my home with me and my kids.  The whole time he lived with me I NEVER once asked for anything from his family, not financially or in any other manner.

Matt is a VERY talented musician and it was this that would be his downfall.  His parents, after 8 months of Matt living with me and making progress with his life.  It might not have been the progress they were looking for but it was still progress.  So after 8 months they told Matt a loving tale of sending him to a special music school in New York where he would be able to pursue his talents and further his love and passion for music.  Matt got very exicted and thought this was a perfect stepping stone for the next phase of his life.

THEN THEY SENT HIM TO THE FAMILY FOUNDATION

He was totally betrayed and blindsided by this, he was actually really excited on the way there to be going to a school in New York where other famous guitar players went and came out famous...they used this to get him to go quietly in the night.  He has been stripped, and is being robbed of the identity that makes him whole and who he is.  All I want is to wrap my arms around him and tell him things will be ok.
