Membership

Thank you for your interest in joining the Community Alliance for the Ethical Treatment of Youth (CAFETY). There are many ways for you to get involved in our organization. You have the option of being an on-line supporter through either our myspace and/or facebook groups, or you may want to take a more active role by becoming a member and obtaining the entitlements and benefits that come with active membership of our organization. You may even want to run for our board of directors. This guide will help you decide the level of involvement that is most comfortable to you based on your available time and resources.

General Supporter
– As of this writing CAFETY has over 2,000 newletter subscriber, Myspace supporters and on Facebook combined. As a benefit to this level of involvement you will receive periodic updates on our Myspace and Facebook bulletins, blogs, and other online postings which will include information about upcoming CAFETY events, action alerts and other important steps that CAFETY is taking to end the dehumanizing treatment of youth.

Becoming a Member – CAFETY offers 3 different categories of membership: Alumni/Survivor, Allies, and Organizations.

Alumni/Survivor Membership: $20 Fee or or who have Volunteered two (2) hours a month for three months or 6 hours (whichever comes first) for CAFETY, including those who have filled out our survey who have also registered here. People who have spent time in residential placement.

Adults who have not spent time in residential placement, but who value the expertise of alumni/survivors and who want to join us to improve the lives of people in and from care.

Organizational Membership: $100 Fee. Agencies, business or organizations that support CAFETY's mission and seek opportunities to engage the expertise of individuals with residential program experience.
